Gamemode 03
Queue up for 1v1 duels across a range of kits. Every match is ranked, so every match moves your ELO - there's nowhere to hide.
Practice exists so you never have to wait around for a fight. Pick a kit, join the queue, and you're dropped into an arena with a full inventory against someone who queued for the same thing. Win or lose, you're back at the spawn point in seconds and can requeue immediately.
It's the fastest way to actually get better at PvP. In a survival world a fight happens when it happens; here you can run fifty of them in an evening, against a spread of opponents, with no gear to lose.
There's no casual queue here. Every duel you take counts: win and your ELO goes up, lose and it goes down, and matchmaking uses that rating to find you opponents at roughly your level. It keeps the fights competitive from your very first one.
Ratings are per-kit, and so are the leaderboards - being top of one queue doesn't carry over to another. Picking up a new kit means starting that ladder from scratch, which is worth knowing before you queue into it.
Queues aren't the only way in. You can send a direct duel request to another player, pick the kit and the arena, and settle it between the two of you. It's the usual way disputes from the other gamemodes get resolved, and the usual way a friendly rivalry gets out of hand.
Combat mechanics differ substantially between Minecraft versions, and PvP muscle memory doesn't transfer cleanly. 1.8.8 gives you the classic no-cooldown click-speed combat most practice servers are built around; 1.12.2 plays differently. If you're chasing ranked ELO, pick one and stay on it.
